4. Surface Treatment
Plate: Origin Black, Orign cold rolled bright, Machined, Grinded
Bar: Origin Black, Orign cold rolled(drawn) bright, Turned, Peeled, Grinded
5. Heat Treatment
1)Annealing
Heat to 780-850ºC, cool slowly in furnace. This will produce a maximum Brinell hardness of 217.
2)Stress Relieving
Stress relieving to remove machining stresses should be carried out by heating to 650ºC, holding for one hour at heat, followed by air cooling. This operation is performed to reduce distortion during heat treatment.
3)Hardening
Harden from a temperature of 830-870ºC followed by oil quenching. Hardness after quenching is 64 HRC.
4)Tempering
Tempering temperature: 180-200ºC.
5)Forging
Hot forming temperature: 1200-1800ºC.
6)Welding
This is a high carbon alloy typically used in bearing applications where welding is not applicable or appropriate.
