1.2738 Die steel is pre-hardened plastic die steel
1.2738 steel adopts advanced die steel refining technology and is Cr-Ni-Mo alloy steel in vacuum melting. The steel has excellent polishing and photoetching properties. Excellent machinability; Good wear resistance; The large mold has uniform hardness and dense organization; No quenching crack and heat treatment deformation risk, no heat treatment, shorten the mold production cycle; Good surface nitriding performance; The surface flame hardening can be carried out to improve the hardness and wear resistance of the die surface. The die must be fully softened before quenching. After quenching, temper in time and heat slowly. [1]
The fine discharge machining at the post-machining stage should be carried out with low current and high frequency to avoid damage to the die. After discharge, the die surface should be ground to remove the "white spark layer" and tempered again at 500℃ to remove the stress.
When grinding the tempered die, in order to prevent grinding cracks and surface softening, attention should be paid to: sufficient cooling; Grinding pressure is appropriate; The processing technology is reasonable.
The steel prehardened steels have excellent polishing properties and are usually polished with alumina or plaster. First of all, it is coarse polishing, and then it is polished with more and more fine abrasive. Each time it is changed, the polishing direction should be changed, and the final polishing time should not be too long, otherwise it will affect the roughness of the die surface.
Nitriding can increase the mold surface hardness, wear resistance and corrosion resistance. Although the steel has been prehardened, it can be further hardened by heat treatment.
CLC 1.2738 is a 300HB (30HRC) pre-hardened grade specially designed for plastic mold industry. Chromium, Molybdenum, Nickel carbon and manganese additions are optimized to have a fully martensite-bainite microstructure after quenching. The high nickel content (1%) is specially adapted to ensure a perfect homogeneity of structure and hardness through thickness even for very thick blocks (up to 700mm/28"). The steel is melted in electrical furnace and refined with VOD or DH device The cleanliness of the steel is guaranteed as well as the soundness. This makes the steel particularly well adapted for mold even when polishing or chemical etching are required for surface finish quality.
DIN 1.2738 is specially used for Plastic injection die moulds. The characteristics of a material are right sharpening, photo-etching properties with high purity and good homogeneity. DIN 2738 is upgraded version of plastic mold steel 0f 2311, which normally supply in Pre hardened condition. Hardness in as supplied condition 280-320 HB with having uniform hardness. The additional nickel content of 1 % increases through hardening. It has good machinability, suitable for Texturing, fine polishability, adequate corrosion resistance, vacuum-degassed steel.
Pre-hardened large size injection mould, can be pollished normally.Used for making high demand large size plastic mould.
